Question by ?_?: Is there a timer switch i can install on a small electric motor? (like a circuit breaker that us timed)?
i need to get a non RC toy boat's motor to stop at a certain time, is there such a thing or device that breaks the circuit at a set time?

it has to be light so it doesnt weigh down the styrofoam boat.

For a quick-and-dirty, mount two wires so one is sprung away from the other, then wedge them together with an aspirin tablet. Experiment to find out how much water to put on the tablet so it will crumble and let the wires separate at the right time.

Build a small circuit using a 555 timer chip that drives a relay or switching transistor. There's a data sheet here http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM555.pdf with diagrams of how to wire it as a timer and how to set the time. You can use any brand of 555 but you probably want one in a DIP package (has legs you can solder to easily). Radio Shack carries one if you're in US or Canada, maybe other places.
