This was an experience I made with the few parts I had at home right after the 2nd Tomar LEGO(r) Fan Event... I used the new IR car base from the Turbo RC new sets. Unfortunatly, it didn't have power to move, 'cause the struture was too heavy, but it's nice even though, right? I enjoyed a lot to do build my first "big" car!

Whether you are an experienced rc car enthusiast or new to this hobby, the care and maintenance of your rc car is paramount to its performance and longevity. You must regularly clean and maintain your rc car if it is to remain reliable and keep high levels of performance.

There are three different kinds of rc cars that you can own and they are electric powered rc cars, nitro powered rc cars and petrol powered rc cars. Although these cars are different all of the cars will need maintaining and servicing to keep them in tip top condition.

The first thing with any rc car, is to keep the car clean. Depending on how often the car is used, I would recommend cleaning the car once a week. This would involve taking the wheels off and cleaning the wheel bearings of dirt, oiling the bearings with WD40, making sure electric motors are clean and free of dust and dirt, and carburettors on nitro and petrol rc cars are clean and tidy.

On nitro and petrol rc cars, keeping the glow plugs, spark plugs and carburettors and fuel systems clean of dirt and grime is paramount for continued reliability.

Make sure that the air filter is clean and dirt free, make sure the carburettor is free of dirt and grime. Ensure that the spark plugs and glow plugs are clean and ensure that all of the moving parts are free moving.

Another thing to make sure with nitro and petrol rc cars is to make sure they are properly tuned for ease of starting and high performance ruuning.

If you are having problems starting your rc car, it is usually down to the following, the air/fuel mixture is incorrect, the mixture is to rich, the engine is flooded, not enough air is entering the engine, a blockage in the fuel line.

Always ensure that the fuel systems on fuel powered rc cars are clean and tidy as dirt and grime and cause unreliability, poor starting and increased wear and tear in the engine.

With electric rc cars, one of the main causes of unreliability are faulty connections and short circuits due to poor insulation. So ensure to make sure that all electrical wires are properly insulated and make sure all electrical connections are secure and firm.

In summary, taking the time to properly maintain and look after your rc car is paramount to it's performance and reliability. It is time well spent and will mean you will have many more hours of fun of trouble free usage and racing.
